In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her shirt.
