Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police say they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior representative said the incident made him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
